Reuben Kaye Returns With New Cabaret Comedy Show ‘Hard to Swallow’

 

The tour arrives following Reuben’s recent appointment as the Artistic Director of the 2026 Adelaide Cabaret Festival.

Australian comedian, singer and writer Reuben Kaye returns with a brand-new solo cabaret comedy show, Hard to Swallow.

Described as “sharper, sexier and more political than ever”, Hard to Swallow is a no-holds-barred spectacle showcasing Kaye’s trademark wit and razor-sharp political commentary.

Taking aim at everything from masculinity and queer rights to systemic oppression, fans can expect another hilarious yet thought-provoking show from Kaye.

Kaye’s Hard To Swallow tour begins in Perth at the Liberty Theatre from Wednesday 28 January to Thursday 12 February. Dates follow at Adelaide’s Hindley Street Music Hall from Wednesday 18 March to Saturday 21 March, Melbourne’s The Athenaeum from Tuesday 7 April to Sunday 19 April, Brisbane’s The Tivoli from Friday 8 May to Sunday 10 May and Sydney’s Enmore Theatre on Saturday 16 May.

The announcement of Reuben Kaye’s Australian tour follows his recent appointment as Artistic Director of the 2026 Adelaide Cabaret Festival. Kaye has received rave reviews for the limited-season run of his hit show enGORGEd, three consecutive years captivating audiences in Opera Up Late and appearing as King Herod in the national tour of Jesus Christ Superstar.
