American singer-songwriter and all-around nice dude Jack Johnson makes his long-awaited Australian and New Zealand return this year.
The Hawaiian-based performer is hitting the road in support of his upcoming documentary and soundtrack, SURFILMUSIC, out Friday 15 May.
The doco explores “Johnson’s evolution from surfer to filmmaker to world-renowned musician, from his youth on the north shore of Hawaii through the making of his iconic surf films Thicker Than Water (1999) and The September Sessions (2000), to the beginning of his music career. Those classic surf films revealed Johnson’s artistic point of view through his lens and guitar, ultimately launching his music career.”
Johnson will be joined on tour by good friends Ben Harper and John Butler, with ARIA Award winner Emily Wurramurra joining the trio at their Sydney gig.
The SURFILMUSIC tour begins with four concerts in Australia at Brisbane’s Riverstage on Saturday 7 November, Perth’s Kings Park & Botanic Gardens on Tuesday 10 November, Sydney’s The Domain on Saturday 14 November and Melbourne’s Sidney Myer Music Bowl on Tuesday 17 November. Johnson and co then make their way across the ditch for two gigs in New Zealand at Auckland’s Spark Arena on Friday 20 November and North Canterbury’s Waipara Winehouse on Sunday 22 November.
Unsurprisingly, there are several pre-sale options available for fans, with the artist pre-sale running from 12pm AEST Thursday 7 May to 12pm AEST Friday 8 May. Up next is the Mastercard pre-sale, running from 1pm AEST Friday 8 May to 1pm AEST Tuesday 12 May, followed by the Live Nation pre-sale, running from 1pm AEST Monday 11 May to 1pm AEST Tuesday 12 May. Once a regular visitor to our shores, Jack Johnson’s music career spans more than 25 years. Over that time he’s released eight studio albums, including three #1 ARIA Albums (Inbetween Dreams, Sleep Through the Static and To the Sea), won three Grammy Awards and released a string of hit singles.
Ben Harper is no stranger to Australia and New Zealand either, with his charming mix of pop, soul, folk and blues resulting in 17 albums and huge hits such as ‘Burn One Down’, ‘Steal My Kisses’ and ‘Diamonds On The Inside’.
Last but not least on the bill is John Butler, one of the country’s most enduring artists. Whether performing with the John Butler Trio or solo, Butler has consistently released critically and commercially successful albums, including his most recent release, 2025’s Prism.
