We here at The Note are big fans of Sydney-based artist Liliana de la Rosa. Her first two singles, ‘Haunted by Roses’ and ‘High Like Heaven’, really piqued our interest, and her third release, the sinister ‘Glass Skin’, is anothe rwinner that falls somewhere between Kylie Minogue’s “dark era” and the avant-garde pop stylings of Björk.
A brooding, contemplative pop swing exploring femininity, individuality and renewal, ‘Glass Skin’ continues de la Rosa’s world-building as she expands her sonic palette with each release.
“‘Glass Skin’ is a fierce dark-alternative pop record exploring my personal experience with feminine rage, identity, and rebirth,” said de la Roas. “Blending poetic lyricism with emotional intensity, the track moves from vulnerability to empowerment to vengeance.”
Taking to Instagram, she added more context to the song, “Around this time last year, I found myself in the ‘glass skin trend’ corner of TikTok, where the overconsumption of skincare products and ‘top hacks’ to reach unattainable levels of perfection was always in my face. Another crazy societal beauty standard to add to the pressure pile.
“It inspired the name of this song. I then spent significant time revisiting my memory bank of experiences as a young woman, particularly a woman in the industry, that filled me with feminine rage. From here, ‘Glass Skin’ was born.
“This song has many healing & empowering cathartic qualities & I’m so excited for it to reach the people that need it.”
