Following the release of ‘Must Be’, Tkay Maidza’s first single in several years, the Zimbabwe-born, Australia-raised artist has delivered another club-ready track in the form of ‘Pressed’, out now via UnitedMasters and Island Records/Dew Process.
Maths Time Joy (Nao, Mahalia) lays down an Amapiano house beat for Maidza to flex on relationships, business and fashion.
Speaking on ‘Pressed’, Tkay states, “House music is a big part of my artistic DNA, and I’ve been really excited by Amapiano (a popular South African subgenre of house music) lately, as it originates from South Africa like me. I just wanted the opportunity to go explore different types of vocal styles, but also come back to the House flows that I was always really excited about.”
The track marks a new era for Maidza, with the LA-based artist stepping out on her own terms. “People shouldn’t count me out or underestimate my abilities. They should be afraid when I’m quiet, as I come back more evolved,” she says.

Breaking out over a decade ago with her hit 2013 single ‘Brontosaurus’, Maidza has gone on to release two studio albums, 2016’s Tkay and 2023’s Sweet Justice, the latter winning the ARIA Award for Best R&B Soul Release, while also becoming the first female rapper signed to 4AD.
Having toured with both Billie Eilish and Dua Lipa and collaborated with Kaytranada, JPEGMAFIA and Charli XCX, Maidza is a trendsetter whose new direction is one fans should be excited for.
