Neil Young Drops ‘Big Change’, the First Song From his New Band The Chrome Hearts
The track is taken from Neil Young and The Chrome Hearts’ upcoming album, Talkin' to the Trees.
It’s been an unusual start to the year for Neil Young after the Americana singer-songwriter decided to boycott Glastonbury Festival this year only to reverse his decisions and become one of the festival’s headliners. Now that he’s 100% performing at Glasto, Young has turned his attention to his new band The Chrome Hearts and their first single, ‘Big Change’.
Taken from Young and The Chrome Hearts’ upcoming debut album, Talkin' to the Trees, ‘Big Change’ is everything you could want from a Young tune. The music is loud and Young’s familiar voice is in full effect, with the two-time Grammy Award-winning declaring: “Big change is coming / Could be bad and it could be great.”
The tune was produced by the great Lou Adler (Carole King, The Mamas & the Papas, Johnny Rivers) at Rick Rubin’s Shangri-La studio in Malibu.
Young’s new band is chock full of talent and features his former Promise of the Rest bandmates Micah Nelson (son of Willie) on guitar, Corey McCormick on bass and Anthony LoGerfo on drums, alongside organist Spooner Oldham.
