When it comes to AC/DC tribute bands, few are as unique as GAYC/DC. Described by Kerrang! as “Glam/Sassy/Porn/Punk/Metal/Dirty Rock ’n’ Roll… with class,” GAYC/DC take the catalogue of AC/DC and turn the songs into a celebration of all things queer.
Founded by Christopher Freeman (bassist for queercore pioneers Pansy Division) alongside drummer Brian Welch, GAYC/DC have earned plaudits not just from fans and critics, but the rock community.
Along with covering all the biggest AC/DC hits, GAYC/DC add their own twist on their classic songs, reworking ‘Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap’ into ‘Dirty Dudes (Done Dirt Cheap)’ and ‘Whole Lotta Rosie’ into ‘Whole Lotta Jose’.
GAYC/DC’s Australian tour kicks off at Brisbane’s The Brightside on Thursday 19 February and continues with concerts at Mo's Desert Clubhouse on the Gold Coast on Friday 20 February, Melbourne’s Stay Gold on Saturday 21 February, Adelaide’s Lion Arts Factory on Wednesday 25 February and Perth’s Milkbar on Thursday 26 February, with the final show occuring at Sydney’s Mary’s Underground on Friday 27 February.
