February 13 - Noteworthy New Releases

Our favourite releases of the week.

Will Everest – ‘Bonnie’

Self-described musical Swiss army knife, Will Everest, has let loose into the world his cracking new single ‘Bonnie’. An ode to his childhood dog of the same name, Everest channels the distorted garage rock vibes of OSESS with an infusion of blues psychedelia on a swirling guitar track, reflecting his struggles with loneliness.

Sounds like: LSD in audio.

ROCKY’S PRIDE & JOY – ‘PULL ON MY CHAINS’

There’s a real creeping sense of dread that takes over during doom metal quartet Rocky’s Pride & Joy’s latest dose of stoner sludge. And that’s meant in the best way possible. ‘Pull on My Chains’ features suffocating riffs and headache-inducing percussion tied together by Brenton Wilson’s intense vocals.

Sounds like: The end of the world.

SPITFINGER –‘A WAY TO FEEL ALIVE’

This is the kind of track that makes you want to get up and rock out in your living room, which is impressive considering ‘A way to feel alive’ is the first single from newcomers Spitfinger. A superb burst of indie rock with a contemporary edge, the track positions Spitfinger as ones to watch over the coming 12 months.

Sounds like: Milkshakes and burgers.

THEMPATH – ‘WELCOME HOME’

The final track on Thempath’s The Shifting Shapes EP is a throwback to the early ‘00s emo punk scene. Think melodic guitars, anthemic hooks and introspective lyrics. All this comes together across four and a half minutes of feel-good pop punk that will fill your heart with joy.

Sounds like: The good old days.
