May 09 - Noteworthy New Releases

Our favourite releases of the week.

alright Psycho – ‘Dr Dribble’

Releasing four singles throughout March as a way to thank fans for supporting them over their journey, the now-defunct Alright Psycho saved the best for last. ‘Dr Dribble’ is a fierce burst of good, old-fashioned, whiskey-soaked rock, with a ’70s-inspired guitar riff acting as the song’s heartbeat. It’s the type of tune that makes you wish the band would get back together (please).

Stormy-Lou – ‘Time To GO’

Emerging trio Stormy-Lou have just released their debut EP, See Ya, Love Ya, Bye! The five tracks of melodic indie-rock will have you pressing repeat, but of all the songs on the EP, ‘Time To Go’ is the one that grabs your attention. From the opening onslaught of good time guitars and pulsating percussion, this is two minutes of energetic ’90s alt-rock goodness.

Sofia Menguita – ‘Still’

Bedroom indie-pop artist Sofia Menguita returns with her first single of 2025, the magnetic ‘Still’. Ever relatable, the song expresses the devastating realisation of falling for someone who doesn’t feel the same way. An honest and heartbreaking look at modern love, ‘Still’ showcases a poppier side to Menguita’s sound, highlighting her growth as an artist.

Mass Wisteria – ‘Same Old’

‘Same Old’ is one hell of a debut from newcomers Mass Wisteria. Any song that opens with a couple of “woo woos” over jangly guitars has The Note on board from the get-go. Throw in a catchy hook, nostalgic rock vibes and authentic storytelling, and you have yourself a rollicking good time. Keep your eye on Mass Wisteria – the future is bright.
