The 2025 Hurtigruten Scandinavian Film Festival has unveiled its full program, with 2025 Cannes Grand Prix Winner Sentimental Value announced as the festival’s centrepiece.
Taking place at Palace Nova Eastend and Palace Nova Prospect Cinemas from July 23 to August 13, cinefiles can experience the best films from Sweden, Norway, Finland, Denmark and Iceland across three captivating weeks.
This year’s program captures a diverse lineup of award-winning flicks, box office smashes, and cult classics, highlighting a range of filmmakers and actors from across Scandinavia.
The festival is delighted to welcome new naming rights partner Hurtigruten, long associated with the Nordic region. Damien Perry, Managing Director APAC, Hurtigruten, says, "We’re proud to be the naming sponsor of the 2025 Hurtigruten Scandinavian Film Festival. As the original and undisputed travel expert in Scandinavia and along Norway’s stunning coastline for over 130 years, Hurtigruten has always been about genuine and authentic experiences with a deep connection to the Nordic people.
“Partnering with Palace to celebrate the richness of Scandinavian storytelling is a natural extension of who we are. This festival reflects the culture, landscapes, and spirit of the North that we love to share with the world."
Headlined by Sentimental Value, an intimate drama starring Renate Reinsve, Stellan Skarsgård and Elle Fanning, this year’s festival also includes Special Presentation Quisling: The Final Days (Quislings siste dager), the acclaimed drama from director Erik Poppe. Set in 1945 Norway, the film follows the post-liberation trial of the country’s infamous and controversial head of state, Vidkun Quisling.
Joining the previously announced Icelandic drama The Mountain (Fjallið), Danish-set medical drama Second Victims (Det andet offer), Finnish comedy/drama Sudden Outbursts of Emotion (Kenraaliharjoitus) and Swedish flick Live a Little (Leva Lite), are Finnish comedy/drama Sudden Outbursts of Emotions (Kenraaliharjoitus), Mika Kaurismäki’s hilarious Long Good Thursday (Mielensäpahoittajan rakkaustarina) and gripping war drama Never Alone (Ei koskaan yksin), based on the true story of Jewish refugees who sought sanctuary in Finland during World War II.
Other highlights include Norway’s sibling comedy Everything Must Go (Alt Skal Bort), featuring a score by internationally renowned Norwegian musician Thomas Dybdahl, a special 25th anniversary screening of Swedish romantic comedy Jalla! Jalla!, and Icelandic black comedy Grand Finale (Fullt hús), which will bring the festival to a close.
