Honourary Aussie Arj Barker has announced the upcoming release of his new comedy The Mind Field, out Friday 17 July via Blonde Medicine.
After more than 35 years at the top of his game as a stand-up comedian, actor and writer, Barker’s latest album delves into science and consciousness and asks the big questions with plenty of humour.
“Having lost my best friend quite suddenly a few years ago, these questions took on more urgency, and this stand-up formed around that,” says Barker.
The San Francisco comic also addresses topics such as mediation, masturbation and eating mediocre pizza, with the album finishing up with a song about drinking too much coffee in Australia.
Recorded at the Punch Line in San Francisco, The Mind Field will be available online and on vinyl, with four limited edition versions able to be pre-ordered here.

Dropping out of college to pursue comedy in the ‘90s, Arj Barker quickly established himself as one to watch around the San Francisco stand-up scene.
His breakthrough arrived in 1997 when he won the prestigious Perrier Best Newcomer Award at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. From then on, it was go, go, go, with Barker appearing on Late Night with Conan O'Brien, The Tonight Show and The Late Show with David Letterman, while also co-writing and starring in the Off-Broadway parody show The Marijuana-Logues in 2004 and joining the cast of the hit HBO sitcom Flight of the Conchords in 2007.
A massive comedy drawcard, Barker is a regular down under, often selling out shows yearly at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival and the Adelaide Fringe.
Now based in Australia, Barker’s upcoming stand-up album ushers in the next chapter of his career, with a national tour to hopefully follow suite.
The Mind Field is out Friday 17 July via Blonde Medicine. Pre-order here.
