'Pigwig' Is the Latest Single Taken From Bloc Party's Upcoming Album, 'Anatomy Of A Brief Romance'

Just under a month out from the release of Bloc Party's seventh studio album Anatomy Of A Brief Romance, out Friday 11 September via cOnTAGIOUS LTD/Mushroom Music, the Kele Okereke-fronted quartet have shared new single 'Pigwig'.

Following 'Coming On Strong', 'Love Bombs' and 'Now We Can't Be Friends', the band's latest song finds Okereke singing about falling in love over familiar indie instrumentation that echoes Bloc Party's heyday.

"'Pigwig' is about the moment of realising that you have been hit by a very big love," explains Okereke. "Almost as if it’s against your will. During our relationship Pigwig was my pet name, after the Beatrix Potter character - the partner of Pigling Bland - an inside joke that meant a lot to us at the time. Looking back this song is probably one of the sweetest on the album as it recalls a memory of a romantic seaside trip at the most magical point of our relationship."

The single is accompanied by a music video, designed and directed by Laura Perrett, filmed live at the Théâtre Beanfield in Montreal.

Bloc Party's Anatomy Of A Brief Romance follows 2022's Alpha Games and tells the story of a relationship, from first meeting to painful eneding, across 14 tracks.

Produced by the legendary Trevor Horn, who has worked with the likes of Grace Jones, Pet Shop Boys and Frankie Goes To Hollywood, Anatomy Of A Brief Romance is autobiographical, with Okereke explaining that "every lyric you're hearing on this record was something that actually happened to me. I had to tell the story, from start to finish."

To coincide with the release of the album, Bloc Party are teaming up with Interpol for a tour of the UK and Europe.
