Radio Free Alice Drop New Track 'Big Ideas'

Emerging Naarm/Melbourne post-punk outfit Radio Free Alice are back with new single 'Big Ideas', the latest track taken from their highly anticipated debut album, What's In Between, out Friday 30 October via Atlantic Records.

The track, which the band debuted at a free DIY pop-up show in LA last week, features Rachel Brown of Water From Your Eyes, with the male/female harmonies of Brown and frontman Noah Learmonth fusing beautifully with the early 00s indie sound of 'Big Ideas'.

On the collaboration, lead singer Noah Learmonth says, "From early on we felt that a second vocal would work well with the song, a kind of call and response. We had loved Water From Your Eyes for years, and had gone to their show when they came to Melbourne. We felt like Rachel would be perfect, they have such an interesting, distinctive voice.

"'Big Ideas' first came about in a time when we felt we were in a creative lull. We were writing a lot, but nothing good. 'Big Ideas' was the first song in a while we were pleased with. It was written in our storage unit in Melbourne where we rehearse. The riff came first and then the bass line."

The track is accompanied by a music video that was shot during the band's free show last week, capturing the fandom surrounding the band.

Radio Free Alice's What's In Between features production from Peter Katis (Interpol, Death Cab for Cutie, The National), Ewan Pearson (Depeche Mode, Franz Ferdinand) and Finn Billingham, with the album artwork shot by renowned Taiwanese-American skateboarder and photographer Jerry Hsu.

"It's a huge relief to finally announce the album," says Learmonth "We've lived with these songs for such a long time, and they've become such a big part of our lives, so knowing there's now a date when they'll finally exist outside of us feels incredibly cathartic."
