Bloc Party Release New Single 'Blue Lagoon'

Ahead of the release of their seventh studio album Anatomy Of A Brief Romance, out this Friday 11 September via cOnTAGIOUS LTD/Mushroom Music, Bloc Party have shared one last single, 'Blue Lagoon'.

If the track sounds familiar, that's because it's a reimagined version of the song 'Blue', which first appeared on Bloc Party's 2023 EP The High Life.

To be honest, it sounds pretty similar to the original, although it's a little more lush and does fit within the landscape of the album and previously released singles 'Coming On Strong', 'Love Bombs', 'Now We Can't Be Friends' and 'Pigwig'.

The single is accompanied by a music video directed by Oskar Jeff that features the band performing the song live at various venues.

Anatomy Of A Brief Romance is the follow-up to Bloc Party's 2022 record Alpha Games and arrives after the band spent most of 2025 celebrating 20 years of their debut album Silent Alarm and 25 years as a band.

A concept album charting a relationship from beginning to end, Anatomy Of A Brief Romance was produced by Trevor Horn (Grace Jones, Pet Shop Boys, Frankie Goes To Hollywood).

Speaking on the autobiographical record, frontman Kele Okereke said that "every lyric you're hearing on this record was something that actually happened to me. I had to tell the story, from start to finish."
