Richard Roxburgh, Damon Herriman & Ryan Corr to star in Australian Production of ‘ART’

ART, the award-winning play by Yasmina Reza, translated by Christopher Hampton, is coming to Australia in 2026.
The production, about friendship, ego and the chaos a single opinion can cause, stars three of Australia’s great modern screen actors – Richard Roxburgh (Rake, Elvis, The Correspondent), Damon Herriman (Mr Inbetween, Justified, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood) and Ryan Corr (House of the Dragon, Underbelly, 1%).
The play focuses on a man who buys an extremely expensive painting and the impact this has on his friends, who begin to question not only his taste in art, but everything about him.
The Tony and Olivier Award-winning production is produced by Rodney Rigby with Marriner Group, Paul Wheelton and State Theatre Company South Australia. Lee Lewis is at the helm as director and is joined by set and costume designer Charles Davis, lighting expert Paul Jackson and sound designer David Letch.
“It takes a great play, an extraordinary director and three actors who are friends that finally get to work together onstage, to explore friendship, art, opinions and the ensuing chaos of having a ‘point of view’ – that’s Richard Roxburgh, Damon Herriman, Ryan Corr in ART by Yasmina Reza, translated by Christopher Hampton and directed by Lee Lewis,” said producer Rigby.
The full run of dates has yet to be revealed, but ART will kick off at Sydney’s Roslyn Packer Theatre on Tuesday 10 February, then tour Brisbane’s QPAC from Wednesday 11 March and Melbourne’s Comedy Theatre from Friday 24 April, before wrapping at Adelaide’s Her Majesty Theatre from Wednesday 20 May.

The shared examination of our crazy lives. It’s happening in real time. It’s alive. There is no AI, no coding that can touch it. That’s real electricity buzzing between us all. That’s real sweat. There’s nothing else like it. It’s theatre!”
Damon Herriman added, “I’ve known both Richard and Ryan for many years and am so excited to be working with two of Australia’s finest actors on such an incredible play.”

To explore that theme with Richard Roxburgh and Damon Herriman, under the direction of Lee Lewis whose work I’ve admired for many years, is a rare privilege.
