Pie Square

We’re obsessed with this joint. From its hilarious website to its ethical community mindset, to its mouthwatering menu of deep-dish pizza pies, Pie Square, based out of Somewhere House, is wicked. Open from Wednesday to Saturday, run, don’t walk down to Pie Square if you’re craving a thick, topping-heavy deep-dish pizza. Just listen to these pies; Baba Ga Mush, with mixed marinated and braised mushrooms on a baba ganoush base or their Jerkin Chicken, with jerk-spiced smoked chicken bits on a bed of smoked Chow Chow, house cheese mix and pickled onions. What’s not to love?

Yes please: Pina Babe – Slow-cooked Chinesespice marinated pork belly with pickled pineapple with house cheese/sauce.

Daebak Brothers

Korean street food has never looked so damn mouthwatering until you walk into the doors of Chinatown’s Daebak Brothers. If the sound of corndogs, fried chicken or Tteokbokki excites you, this menu will have your heart. This space has a DIY element, where you can create your own corndog, choosing between six cheese and sausage combos, choose your coating, with options like potato, cornflakes and ramen, and pick your perfect sauces. Or if Tteokbokki is more your style, they’ve got options like their original: stir-fried soft and chewy rice cakes with fish cakes in a sweet and spicy sauce for only $14.

Yes please: Specialty Fries: deliciously spicy Korean-style AB with signature Gochujang Mayo sauce.

From the atmosphere to menu, the upscale joint is home to dishes like their Buratta starter, with peach, heirloom tomato and sesame, and their bigger plates, like their Swordfish ala Milanese, with walnuts and pomegranate. If you’re looking for a dinner that leaves you dreaming about the food for months, you’ve found the place here.

Lucky Dumpling & Noodle

Meet Cho Cho, the brand new Asian fusion café-restaurant in Chinatown and sister to Firle’s Italian eatery Gico. You may be wondering how the team behind an ultra-successful Italian restaurant could switch over to Asian flavours seamlessly, and you’re very valid in that questioning. But somehow, they’ve made it work; and very deliciously, we may add. Their menu leans heavily on the fusion title, with menu items like their Beef Tartare, with crispy chilli, seaweed, pickle, spicy mayo on a fried doughnut stick, leaning into the Asian flavours on a traditionally French dish. Or their Squid Ink Chilli Calamari Pasta, with garlic, white wine rich scampi butter sauce meeting Asian and Italian in the middle. Cho Cho is heaven on earth.

Yes please: CHOCHO Signature: Beef Bone Marrow Pork and Wagyu Beef Ragu.
