Disco scenes and foodie dreams unfold within the burgundy and rose walls of Norwood’s latest wine bar, Lola’s. Velvet curtains, mirrored ceilings and pink marble countertops set the perfect vibe for a post-work hang to cleanse off the working week. The menu features small bites, delectable à la carte picks and delightful drinks like their Caramel Espresso Martini or signature fruity sparkling The Lola. But it’s their food you can’t look past, with dishes like their take on a classic French appetiser of leeks, vinaigrette and gribiche. With a disco ball and a vinyl DJ deck, this is the spot to be.

The celebrated Owner and Executive Chef David Swain and Owner and Restaurant Manager Sharon Romeo of Fino Willunga and Seppeltsfield bring you Fino Vino, a 70-seat warm yet classy restaurant, where local produce shines. The meticulously crafted menu screams “experience”, which feels like the ethos of the space. It is an experience – the orange tiles, brick walls, velvet booths, paired with picks like dry-aged Black Angus porterhouse with Fino butter tickling your taste buds, or octopus, served with pickled green tomato and white bean purée. It is elegance, best experienced with their 4 or 6-course tasting menu, and a few glasses of locally sourced wines to wash it all down.
Yes please: Grilled quail with five spice and kimchi.

Uncle Authentic Hainanese Chicken Rice

Uncle Authentic Hainanese Chicken Rice, or as we in The Note office affectionately call it, “Uncle Chicken”, might just be the most talked-about lunch spot in any office, ever. This small joint is somehow SA’s best-kept secret and a wildly popular favourite, with a daily lunch rush out the door, despite minimal media attention. Their Malaysian and Singapore-influenced menu revels in its simplicity, offering mouthwatering crispy-skin chicken rice: slow-fried marinated deboned chicken with fragrant rice, bean sprouts and cucumber, plus their special ginger and chilli sauce. You don’t need to look beyond the basics here. You’ve never tasted chicken and rice like this.
Yes please: Uncle Traditional Chicken Rice with Asian Greens.
