TIMELIGHT “Beyond our ticking world” makes its world premiere at ILA (Immersive Light and Art) across September and October.
The immersive and interactive experience comes from the minds of the acclaimed Berlin-based multidisciplinary studio flora&faunavisions, whose exhibition EDEN at ILA sold out as part of Illuminate Adelaide 2024.
“At ILA, we’re committed to showcasing not only the best of art and technology in Australia, but globally as well. TIMELIGHT ‘Beyond our ticking world’ by flora&faunavisions is the first in an exciting new and ongoing program of events at ILA,” said CEO of ILA, Becc Bates.
“We’re delighted to be working with this internationally renowned creative company, after a sold-out and extended season of EDEN, as part of Illuminate Adelaide in 2024. TIMELIGHT offers visitors the same magical experience of bringing a digital screen to life at the touch of their fingertips, in a way that is bigger and better than ever.”
TIMELIGHT blends science, nature, philosophy and design across an expansive digital canvas in an immersive journey through the meaning of time that’s broken down into three chapters.
Chapter One: Capturing Universal Time
Glowing spheres and streaming light trails beckon visitors into a realm where time bends and stretches. In this chapter, time becomes mysterious, abstract, and awe-inspiring.
Chapter Two: Inside The Clock
Visitors step into a giant time machine– mechanical rhythms, pulsing lights, and the ticking gears of clocks create a vivid world. Visitors are invited to participate in a playful, high-energy interactive game that emulates the tension between control and chaos in our daily lives.
Chapter Three: Time In Circle
As the journey comes to an end, time slows as visitors are immersed into the quiet, unfolding rhythm of nature. Through touch, visitors can transform their environment over time and see trees growing, shifting shadows and humanity aging.

Not only can guests interact with the display, but in the gallery area, they are urged to scribble down their own definition of time on the giant, written wall. The aim is for everyone to contribute their idea to the collective and contemplate what role time plays in our lives.
It is a sensory reminder that time is not just what moves us forward, but what connects us to everything,” says Leigh Sachwitz, Founder and CEO of flora&faunavisions.
“TIMELIGHT unfolds across three distinct chapters to create a seamless 30-minute immersive experience that can be enjoyed equally by young and old,” he adds. “These chapters explore the complex concept of time.”
