Adelaide Arcade Spotlights Local Businesses As Part of Buy SA Week

Brand SA’s Buy SA Week hits the city this week, with Adelaide Arcade holding a special one-day event spotlighting local businesses.
Held this Saturday 2 August, the event coincides with the building’s 140th anniversary celebrations and will include a variety of events held in stores throughout Adelaide Arcade, highlighting some of SA’s best creatives.
“Every corner of Adelaide Arcade will have something for shoppers to take part in,” says Adelaide Arcade General Manager, Andrew Jonats. “With more than 90% of the arcade’s traders being South Australian owned, we’re proud to showcase local talent, design and products with this special event.”
There’s a stack of events taking place on the day, with shoppers able to catch a free wheel-throwing demo with Just Pottery, experience dry needling with Kutumba, or get a henna tattoo with Fizzbubble Art.
Bella Mia and Hooked Studio will host a free “come and try” crochet session, while local artisans Henry Eckert Australia and Terry Gasson Tailor will display their wares for passersby.

Emma Klau has a glass exhibit at OmMade Meet the Maker that includes wine tasting paired with chocolate tasting from La Petite Patissiere, Pink Shorts Press are hosting an Open Day with local author Olivia De Zilva reading passages from her debut novel, Plastic Budgie, and Pencraft have an interactive display where shoppers can create a custom-designed Adelaide Arcade postcard using a fountain pen with colourful locally made Robert Oster Ink.
T’Arts Collective are getting in on the act with illustrator, writer and printmaker Sally Heinrich crafting special prints of the famed Adelaide Arcade facade available on tote bags and tea towels in-store, along with hosting demonstrations by artists throughout the day.
Zu Design’s SAcred, which is also part of this year’s SALA Festival, highlights the connection between local creatives and the places they call home. Asha Jewelry are handing out complimentary mini candles when customers spend more than $200, and Haigh’s Chocolates are also doing something similar, offering a complimentary 200g packet of Milk Chocolate Speckles (valued at $15.90) with spends of $50 or more.
The day shapes as a great way to support local businesses and discover what Adelaide Arcade has to offer.
