Having just wrapped up their recent tour of Australia with a final blowout in Adelaide, revered punk outfit These New South Whales have shared cracking new single, ‘BIG MACHINE.
The fourth track taken from their upcoming album GODSPEED, which drops independently via ADA on Friday 28 November (pre-order here), ‘BIG MACHINE’ follows the previously released tracks ‘INSTINCT’, ‘GODSPEED’ and ‘MISS HER’.
A straight-up rock and roller with a big guitar sound, this one is made to be played loud. “Sometimes you gotta go big,” says frontman Jamie Timony. “This is one of those times.”
The release of ‘BIG MACHINE’ arrives as the lads from These New South Whales prepare to mark 500 episodes of their hilarious podcast, What A Great Punk, with three live pods in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne.
The pod has been running for five years and featured a stack of awesome guests, including Sycco, Mallrat, Aaron Chen, The Cure, Viagra Boys, Tame Impala, Geese, Amyl and The Sniffers
“Well, as famous rocker Julian Casablancas once said, 'IS THIS IT?' In this case, I must confess… it is. It is it: It’s the WHAT A GREAT PUNK—500th episode—Season 1 Finale celebration tour,” says Timony. “That’s right, gang. For now, it’s goodbye to our beloved podcast. It’s been a wild and wonderful ride, but only two things are true in life: All good things must come to an end, and you gotta pay your taxes.”
Taking place on the final weekend of November, the same time as their fourth album GODSPEED is released, punters can catch the live podcast at Meanjin/Brisbane’s Good Chat Comedy Club on Friday 28 November, Eora/Sydney’s The Lansdowne on Saturday 29 November and Naarm/Melbourne’s Railyway Hotel on Sunday 30 November.
Tickets are on sale now via this link.

GODSPEED is produced by Ben Greenberg (Depeche Mode, Drab Majesty, Show Me The Body), who had a great time in the studio with These New South Whales.
“The GODSPEED sessions were a blast,” Greenberg shares. “The guys came in with real purpose and commitment to push themselves every step of the way. That intensity translated directly into the recordings, and I think you can really hear it in every track. It was a special experience.”
To celebrate the release of GODSPEED, These New South Whales have teamed up with Fender to give away one signed Gretsch® Streamliner™ Jet™ 1 Pickup. To enter the competition, pre-order your copy of GODSPEED at tnsw.co/preorder.
‘BIG MACHINE’ by These New South Whales is out now. GODSPEED arrives independently via ADA on Friday 28 November. Pre-order/pre-save the album here.
