These New South Whales Announce Fourth Album ‘GODSPEED’ Ahead of Australian Tour
The Sydney quartet have also shared the album’s title track.

After sharing their first single (‘Instinct’) in three years this August, punk outfit These New South Whales have announced the release of their hotly anticipated fourth long player, GODSPEED.
Set to be released independently via ADA on Friday 28 November, GODSPEED was produced by Ben Greenberg (Depeche Mode, Drab Majesty, Show Me The Body), who had a great time making the record with the lads.
“The GODSPEED sessions were a blast," Greenberg shares. "The guys came in with real purpose and commitment to push themselves every step of the way. That intensity translated directly into the recordings, and I think you can really hear it in every track. It was a special experience.”
Much like previous releases, the album tackles political and social issues, with frontman Jamie Timony having this to say about the record: “GODSPEED is about coming home to yourself, living on your own terms, reclaiming and celebrating your autonomy, and trusting your own intuition.
“It’s about freedom, self-reliance, and rejecting groupthink and false authority. Now more than ever, it’s vital to separate truth from lies, to stand up to power no matter its size – and to do it with love in our hearts, not hate, which isn’t always easy! Godspeed!”

Accompanying the announcement is the release of the album’s self-titled second single. A Brit-punk influenced guitar rattler, the song is based around Timony’s motto, “The choice is yours! Godspeed!”
“I, like many artists, don’t particularly like to prescribe the meaning of any song. But for me personally, the lyrics to ‘GODSPEED’ were drawn from my experience of how joyous it felt to leave Alcoholics Anonymous after nine years inside of it,” Timony explains.
“When you land in AA, they tell you you’re terminally ill. They say you’ve got a ‘disease’ that only a spiritual experience can fix – and that you’ll never fully recover. Sure – but what if people were just told the truth? That they do have the capacity to make different choices? That they’re not broken, not diseased, not doomed unless they become lifelong spiritual messengers of the 12 steps?”
To celebrate the release of GODSPEED, These New South Whales are embarking on a national tour across October and November.
The tour commences at Crowbar in Meanjin/Brisbane on Friday 17 October and continues with dates at Crowbar in Eora/Sydney on Friday 24 October, The Night Cat in Naarm/Melbourne on Saturday 25 October and Mojo’s in Walyalup/Fremantle on Friday 31 October, before TNSW wrap things up at Jive in Kaurna/Adelaide on Saturday 1 November.
