Australia’s punk rock scene is thriving. Amyl and the Sniffers, Placement, Tropical Fuck Storm, Private Function and Floodlights are just a handful of bands making their mark on both a national and global stage, with the next in line to the punk throne being Sydney-based quartet Crocodylus.
Consisting of high school mates Josh Williams and Stephen Sacco, alongside Mikel Salvador Jara and Nick Meadows, the four-piece have been making waves with their kinetic vibrations these past few years, with new single ‘Limbo’ their first release of 2025.
This one is for those who like their riffs fast and heavy, with Crocodylus delivering a throbbing blast of hazy guitars paired with mesmerising melodies made for the mosh.
Speaking on the single, the band shares, “With ‘Limbo’, we wanted to create something called ‘beautiful punk’. It's fast, gets heavier in the bridge and all comes together at the end with a tempo change and the addition of strings. This song is about not knowing where we fit into the music scene. Trying to dig ourselves out of the place we sit and starting again. It took a while to nail this one, but stoked where we landed with it.”
The track is accompanied by a music video directed by Nathan Rathsam and Sinead Campion, which stars Tiriel Mora, best known as Dennis Denuto from the Aussie classic The Castle.
On the making of the video, Crocodylus’ Salvador explains, “The video clip for ‘Limbo’ was shot in one busy day with a wonderful crew led by co-directors Nathan Rathsam and Sinead Campion. Somehow we managed to swing cult hero/character actor extraordinaire; Tiriel Mora in the lead role. It was challenging not to call him Dennis Denuto (The Castle) during the shoot. The video clip explores the aspect of ‘Limbo’ in an almost Groundhog Day-ish lens, the monotony of the Western five-day working week and its repression of the working class. Also, we got to be silly and dance around with Tiriel and blow a saxophone in his face, what a good sport."

The release of ‘Limbo’ arrives as Crocodylus have just signed both a global record and publishing deal with Sydney-based independent ORiGiN Music Group. The deal means Crocodylus will release new music under the ORiGiN Recordings banner, with the band’s song-writing catalogue represented by ORiGiN Music Publishing.
After releasing the EPs Bummed Out! (2016) and Christian Syrups (2017), Crocodylus dropped their debut album Enjoy in 2019. They followed this up with 2022’s Muscle Memory and have spent the last couple of years writing new material while honing their live dynamic.
Expect more music and a possible album from the boys in the near future.
