Micky Dolenz Announces Australian Tour 2027

Famed entertainer and member of The Monkees, Micky Dolenz, is bringing his brand new live show, Micky Dolenz: 60 Years of The Monkees, to Australian shores in 2027.

The tour celebrates The Monkees hit TV series, with Dolenz taking audiences on a journey through the band's chart-topping classics and fan favourites in chronological order, including 'Pleasant Valley Sunday', 'I'm A Believer', 'I'm Not Your Stepping Stone', 'Last Train to Clarksville', 'Randy Scouse Git', 'Sometime In The Morning' and of coures, 'Daydream Believer'.

Each track will be accompanied by a multimedia backdrop highlighting key moments throughout the Monkees' history, adding to the experience, while Dolenz will also perform tracks from his new EP, Timeless.

"I've spent nearly my entire life either in front of or behind the cameras or microphones," explains Dolenz. "Much of what I've been able to share with the world has come from this thing called The Monkees - this wacky musical-comedy TV show about a band struggling for success. Interestingly, on the show, The Monkees never actually made it. Off-screen, however, we sold out concerts all over the world."

Micky Dolenz: 60 Years of The Monkees Tour begins with two shows in Queensland at Brisbane's QPAC Arena on Thursday 6 May and Gold Coast's HOTA on Saturday 8 May. Dolenz then performs at the Civic Centre in Newcastle on Wednesday 12 May, followed by Sydney's State Theatre on Friday 14 May, Thirroul's Anita's Theatre on Sunday 16 May and Canberra's Theatre Centre on Tuesday 18 May. The tour then winds its way through Geelong's Costa Hall on Thursday 20 May, Melbourne's Palais Theatre on Saturday 22 May and Adelaide's AEC Theatre on Monday 24 May, wrapping up at the Astor Theatre in Perth on Wednesday 26 May.

One of the biggest musical acts of the late '60s, The Monkees got famous via their hit TV series, The Monkees, about a group of struggling musicians trying to make it big. The show won two Emmys and helped the band sell millions of records worldwide.

"When we first played, all by ourselves, it was like Pinocchio becoming a real little boy," recalls Dolenz. "I remain proud of what I've achieved in my time, particularly with my late great and still-beloved Monkee brothers Davy, Peter and Michael.

"What I want to do, as the 60th anniversary of that wonderful moment is upon me, is to look back and share with the fans the sheer joy of what we accomplished – and what it all still means to so many."
