Melbourne’s self-professed “bogan funk” outfit Playlunch are hitting the road this September in support of their upcoming album, Sex Ed.
Arriving August 22 via ABC Music (pre-order here), Sex Ed is 11 tracks of pub punk rock spliced with Aussie larrikin humour that includes the previously released singles ‘Station Rat’, ‘Boys’ and ‘Keith’.
The seven-piece’s most recent single, viral hit ‘Keith’, is accompanied by a hilarious music video starring former AFL strongman Barry Hall that’s clocked up over 120,000 views. The track, about the male version of a Karen, has also propelled the band’s debut album, Who’s Ready For A Good Time?, back into the charts.
Speaking on their upcoming tour, the band said: “These shows will not only be in these crazy surreal venues, but will also be the biggest Playlunch show you’ll have ever seen - packed full of surprises and with the best production value we can possibly cram into the shows. We’ll be playing a whole heap of these new tracks live for the very first time (can’t wait to show you!), as well as all the favs from our debut album.”
Playlunch’s Aussie jaunt begins in Adelaide at Lion Arts Factory on Friday 5 September and continues with shows at Perth’s The Rosemount Hotel on Saturday 6 September, Brisbane’s The Triffid on Friday 12 September and Sydney’s Manning Bar on Saturday 13 September, with the final gig a hometown concert at Melbounre’s 170 Russell on Friday 19 September.

Everyone is in for an absolute treat, with a night of nonstop dancing and singing across the whole lineups!”
