The Wallflowers Announce First-Ever Australian Tour

The Wallflowers have announced their debut Australian tour, with the Jakob Dylan-founded outfit touring in December.

The tour comes in support of the band's sophomore album Bringing Down the Horse, which celebrates its 30th anniversary this year. Peaking at #4 on the Billboard 200, the album made it to #9 on the ARIA Albums Chart and produced the hit single 'One Headlight'.

The Wallflowers will perform the album in its entirety on tour, along with paying tribute to Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers' 1982 record Long After Dark, which will also be performed in full at each show.

"I loved this record when it hit the streets," Dylan said in a statement. "It was 1996, lots of good things around that were starting to reignite the country, roots, early Americana scene like Wilco's Being There, Steve Earle's I Feel Alright, Gill & Dave's Revival, etc. Good sounds, and unbelievable they never got here at the time. It's an excellent live show, and we get a Petty album too?!. Unreal. It’s 30 years of Love Police next year. This seems like a good way to start the party early. See you at the shows, music lovers.”

The tour begins in Melbourne at the Palais Theatre on Friday 4 December, followed by dates at Thirroul's Anita's Theatre on Saturday 5 December, Sydney's Liberty Hall on Sunday 6 December and Brisbane's Fortitude Music Hall on Tuesday 8 December, finishing up in Adelaide at Hindley Street Music Hall on Wednesday 9 December.

Song of the legendary Bob Dylan, Jakob Dylan, The Wallflowers formed in 1989 and have gone through several iterations over the decades.

The band has released seven albums, the most recent being 2021's Exit Wounds, which received positive reviews and is inspired by classic rock.

Dylan has also contributed songs to film and television, including The Wallflowers' cover of David Bowie's 'Heroes' for the 1998 Godzilla soundtrack, 'Arms of a Ghost' for NCIS: Los Angeles and 'Nothing But the Whole Wide World' for Friday Night Lights.

Having shared the stage with Eric Clapton, The Who and The Rolling Stones, Dylan's tour of Australia with The Wallflowers is one many fans have been hanging out for.
