Having teamed up with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra for a special show at Hamer Hall in 2023, singer-songwriter Mo’Ju has revealed that a live album of the concert is coming.
Released on Friday 26 September, via ABC Music, Mo’Ju with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra (Double J Live At The Wireless) features new arrangements of Mo’Ju’s songs, including hit single ‘Native Tongue’.
Arranged by composer Jamie Messenger and realised by Mo’Ju, conductor Nicholas Buc and the MSO, the live album is available to pre-order/pre-save here.
Along with releasing Mo’Ju with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra (Double J Live At The Wireless), Mo’Ju is embarking on a run of seven shows across the country. Perfomring songs from across their career accompanied by pianist Lewis Coleman, Mo’Ju’s tour begins in Melbourne at Werner Brodbeck Hall on Thursday 2 October. They then play Brisbane’s St Andrew’s Uniting Church (Friday 3 October), Sydney’s St Stephen’s Church (Saturday 4 October), three shows in Tassie at Ulverstone’s The Pier (Friday 10 October), Launceston’s Du Cane Brewing (Saturday 11 October) and Hobart’s Longley Hotel (Sunday 12 October), before wrapping things up at OzAsia Festival in Adelaide on Friday 17 October.

Best known for their 2018 album Native Tongue, Aussie artist Mo’Ju has been a fixture in the local music scene for almost 15 years.
Mo’Ju’s most recent record, 2023’s Oro, Plata, Mata, was labelled an “ambitious neo-soul take on capitalism and catastrophe” by The Guardian in a four-star review.
Speaking on their upcoming tour, Mo’Ju says, “After 20 odd years of touring, it starts becoming rare to have new experiences in that space, but I had never really done anything like this. Hearing your music arranged and performed by an orchestra is a very emotional thing.
“I don’t think I’d even dared to dream of something like it. It seemed unlikely for someone like me. So to not only have done this, but to have committed it to record… working with such incredibly talented people, I’m very proud of it but I’m also humbled by it.”
