Following the release of singles ‘Knowledge’ and ‘More Horse, Less Code’, Lismore-based media puzzle have today dropped their fourth studio album, New Racehorse.
Comprising 12 tracks about the modern world, touching on technology, love, death, responsibility and ego, New Racehorse combines media puzzle’s experimental sound with eccentric samples, crafting a collection of songs described as “Instinct over Algorithm. Feeling over System. Body over Machine. Equine Finality.”
The first half of the record is a distorted nightmare captured by songs such as ‘New Pet’, ‘Out Of the Rain’, ‘I Don’t Care’, ‘Tea Time’, with the second half heads into a new direction with ‘See You There’, ‘My Age, In Minutes And Seconds’, ‘Don’t Know You’, ‘Equine End Of Life’, ‘Robotic Love’ and ‘Outro’.

Taking their name from the 2002 Melbourne Cup-winning Irish racehorse, media puzzle was originally the solo project of Tom Peter (lead vocals/guitar), who now performs with Kellie Eden (synth/trumpet), Eden Yeigh (guitar), Oliver Clarke (drums) and Solomon Jones (bass).
Releasing their first EP 14 in 2023, media puzzle dropped three studio albums, Jockey (2023), A Brief History of Planets, Space and Shit (2023) and Intermission (2024), before the release of today’s New Racehorse.
Having toured with the likes of Ty Segall, Regurgitator and more over the past couple of years, media puzzle are heading out on a solo headline national east coast tour this April, sadly bypassing Adelaide.
