Julian Lage Announces Debut Australian Tour

This is a rare opportunity to see a multi-Grammy nominated and Independent Music Award winning guitarist in the flesh.

Acclaimed American guitar virtuoso and composer Julian Lage is touring Australia for the first time this September.

Exploring the space between classical compositions and American folk, the Grammy-nominated artist's upcoming run of shows celebrates the 10th anniversary of his debut album World's Fair (2015) and his latest release, this year's Scenes From Above.

World's Fair was widely praised by the music press and helped Lage gain recognition across the globe, while his latest record is a dynamic collaboration with keyboardist John Medeski, bassist Jorge Roeder and drummer Kenny Wollesen, with additional input from musician, composer and record producer Patrick Warren.

Lage's tour begins in Adelaide at Dunstan Playhouse on Friday 11 September. The guitar wizard then plays Hobart's Theatre Royal on Saturday 12 September, followed by dates at Melbourne's Recital Centre on Monday 14 September, Canberra's Street Theatre on Wednesday 16 September and Sydney's City Recital Hall on Thursday 17 September, bringing things to a close in Byron Bay at Byron Theatre on Friday 18 September.

California-born, New York-based Lage has released or appeared on dozens of albums and collaborated with the likes of Gary Burton, John Zorn, Nels Cline, Chris Eldridge and Fred Hersch and many more.

Lage currently teaches ensembles and guitar at The New School's School of Jazz and Contemporary Music in New York City and is a member of Bob Dylan's touring band.
