Joy Division, Wu-Tang Clan, Oasis and More Inducted Into Rock Hall’s Class of 2026
Phil Collins, Sade, Iron Maiden, Billy Idol and Luther Vandross also made the cut.
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Class of 2026 has been announced, with Joy Division/New Order, Wu-Tang Clan and Oasis leading the charge.
They will be joined by Phil Collins, Sade, Iron Maiden, Billy Idol and Luther Vandross, who all made the cut.
Wu-Tang Clan and Vandross were elected the first year they were nominated, with every other artist having been in the running previously.
Those nominated who missed out include Mariah Carey, Shakira, Lauryn Hill, Jeff Buckley, New Edition, Pink, Melissa Etheridge and Australia’s own INXS.
Along with nominating new members of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, organisers revealed Celia Cruz, Fela Kuti, Queen Latifah, MC Lyte and Gram Parsons have taken out the Early Influence Award, while Linda Creed, Arif Mardin, Jimmy Miller and Rick Rubin are being recognised with the Musical Excellence Award. Ed Sullivan was the beneficiary of the Ahmet Ertegun Award.
Taking to Twitter, Liam Gallagher was humbled by Oasis’ inclusion in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, posting, “I wanna thank all the people who voted for us it’s a real honour ever since I was a little kid and singing in the shower I’d dream about 1 day being in the RnR hall of fame it’s true what they say anything is possible if you have a dream.”
Iron Maiden’s manager Rod Smallwood also took to Twitter on behalf of the band, writing, “We’d like to thank the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame for including us (and former members who were all part of our story) in the 2026 roll call of inductees. Iron Maiden have always been about our relationship with our fans above anything else, including awards and industry accolades. However, having said that, it’s always nice to be recognised and honoured for any achievements within the music industry too!
“It also seems appropriate for the band to be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame this year as we continue our 50th anniversary celebrations with our Run For Your Lives World Tour visiting the Americas and beyond. We would also like to congratulate our fellow 2026 inductees and extend our gratitude as ever to our fans for their loyalty, perseverance and support for over 50 years now! See you all, somewhere on tour.”
The official Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony takes place in Los Angeles on Saturday 14 November. More information is available at rockhall.com.
