Melbourne punk rockers Bodyjar are back with brand new single, ‘Sound of the Stereo’.
Following on from last year’s ‘Here Comes Caroline’, the band’s latest is everything you could want from a Bodyjar track: catchy riffs, an anthemic chorus and good vibes all round.
Speaking about the new single, guitarist Tom Read says, “Being in my late 40s and having three boys, two of them teenagers, watching them growing up has brought up a lot of memories from our young days. The shit we used to do. How absolutely glued to the stereo I was. Making compilation tapes. Riding around with mates on our BMX's and just goofing off. Now the kids make playlists on their Spotify accounts that I pay for instead of recording the songs illegally off the radio, they don’t even have to pedal their bikes like we used to….!!!”
‘Sound of the Stereo’ arrives as Bodyjar prepare to hit the road to celebrate the 25th anniversary of their album How It Still Works.
The tour includes support from Not Dollar Short (New South Wales and Queensland) and The Decline (Western Australia), with more acts to be announced for the South Australia and Victoria dates.
The How It Still Works Tour kicks off with three shows in NSW at Newcastle’s King St Bandroom on Thursday 9 July, Sydney’s Crowbar on Friday 10 July and Wollongong’s Waves on Saturday 11 July. Three dates follow in Queensland at Gold Coast’s Miami Marketta on Thursday 16 July, Brisbane’s Crowbar on Friday 17 July and Kings Beach’s Kings Beach Tavern on Saturday 18 July, before the group hits Adelaide’s Lion Arts Factory on Thursday 23 July.
The final run of shows takes place at Scarborough’s Indian Ocean Hotel on Friday 24 July, Margaret River’s The River on Saturday 25 July and Belgrave’s Sooki Lounge on Friday 31 July, with the final blowout at Melbourne’s The Last Chance on Saturday 1 August.
