Bill Bailey is heading back to Australia this October and November with a new stand-up show that’s sure to be a rib tickler. In true Bailey fashion, the name of the show, ‘Thoughtifier’, has an interesting meaning. Two in fact.
According to the gospel of Bailey, ‘thoughtifier’ is “an intriguing device that can amplify the thoughts of a curious mind using music, channelled through a human instrument, known as Bill Bailey.” It’s also a word that can be used to describe a person who looks like Bailey.
‘Thoughtifier’ will see Bailey lead fans on a journey through the history of humanity’s flaws and dive deep into the mysteries of the human mind, along with discussing whales, biophilia, and unrequited love. Bailey’s sharp wit and hilarious musical performances will be on display for all to enjoy.
The 16-date tour takes in a wide range of cities and towns, kicking off in Geelong at Costa Hall on Thursday, October 24. Bailey will crisscross his way around Australia playing a variety of different venues before his final show in Brisbane at the Convention Centre on Saturday, November 23.
Bill Bailey has been making people laugh for more than three decades. The UK comedian rose to fame in his home country in the late 80s and early 90s with his musical stand-up. His popularity went worldwide when cast as comic shop manager Bilbo Bagshot in Spaced and book store assistant Manny Bianco in Black Books. This led to Bailey appearing on all the top UK panel shows, including a six-year stint as team captain on Never Mind the Buzzcocks from 2002-2008.
Along with his television appearances, Bailey has toured the world multiple times, playing to packed crowds across Europe, North America, Australia and New Zealand. Bailey tours Australia so regularly these days that he’s become an honorary citizen. He last played shows across the nation in 2022 when he brought his successful ‘En Route To Normal’ tour Down Under.
His love for Australia runs deep, with his 2023 documentary series, Bill Bailey's Australian Adventure, a four-part show following the comic as he journeys across Western Australia, running into an array of interesting characters while exploring the state’s weird and wonderful history.
‘Thoughtifier’ is set to be another side-splitting tour fans of Bailey won’t want to miss.
Pre-sale begins Friday, May 17 at 10:30am local time. You can register for pre-sale here. General sale tickets will be available on Tuesday, May 21 at 8:30am local time via BOHM Presents.
