The 50th anniversary celebration of Mike Oldfield’s classic albumTubular Bells continues in 2026, with the long-running concert series returning to Australia.
Led and arranged by Mike Oldfield’s long-term collaborator, Robin A Smith, the show features Tubular Bells performed in full, along with extended sections from Tubular Bells II and III and a performance of the worldwide hit ‘Moonlight Shadow’.
“We have been lucky enough to tour our new reimagined version of Tubular Bells extensively around the world, a show that has been embraced by so many,” says Smith. “We thought how wonderful it would be to incorporate music from all of Mike’s three major works so everyone can delight in his sensational themes and dramatic episodes.”
Smith’s tour performing Tubular Bells begins in Melbourne at Hamer Hall on Wednesday 3 June. Dates follow at Adelaide’s AEC Theatre (Friday 5 June), Perth’s His Majesty’s Theatre (Saturday 6 June), Brisbane’s QPAC (Wednesday 10 June), Newcastle’s Civic Theatre (Thursday 11 June) and Canberra’s Canberra Theatre, with the final show at Sydney’s Opera House on Saturday 13 June.

Released in 1973 by a then-19-year-old Mike Oldfield, Tubular Bells became a global smash after the opening theme was used to great effect in classic horror flick The Exorcist.
Written and recorded by Oldfield, the mostly instrumental album was critically praised by critics and fans, taking out the 1974 Grammy Award for Best Instrumental Composition.
50 years later, Tubular Bells remains an incredible piece of music that is the highest-selling instrumental album of all time and is certified platinum 9x in the UK.
