The Wallflowers' upcoming Australian tour celebrating the 30th anniversary of the band's sophomore album Bringing Down the Horse has hit a snag, with the Adelaide and Brisbane shows being cancelled.

"With great regret, The Wallflowers wish to advise they will no longer be performing in Brisbane or Adelaide on their forthcoming, first-ever tour of Australia," reads the official statement regarding the cancelled dates.

"Scheduling issues have forced the band to return prematurely to the USA. The shows in Melbourne, Thirroul and Sydney will be proceeding as planned. The band and Love Police deeply apologise for all those affected by this unavoidable action."

Punters with tickets will receive an automatic refund via your original method of payment within 14-21 days depending on your bank's processing time.

Those still keen to check out the Jakob Dylan-founded outfit will have to travel interstate, with the tour reduced to three shows in Melbourne at the Palais Theatre on Friday 4 December, Thirroul's Anita's Theatre on Saturday 5 December and Sydney's Liberty Hall on Sunday 6 December.

Tickets for these shows are on sale now at lovepolice.com.au.

The Wallflowers' first tour of Australia will feature the band performing Bringing Down the Horse in its entirety along with a Tom Petty tribute, which will be a second set where the band performs Petty & the Heartbreakers' 1982 record Long After Dark in full.

"I loved this record when it hit the streets," Dylan said in a statement about the album. "It was 1996, lots of good things around that were starting to reignite the country, roots, early Americana scene like Wilco's Being There, Steve Earle's I Feel Alright, Gill & Dave's Revival, etc. Good sounds, and unbelievable they never got here at the time. It's an excellent live show, and we get a Petty album too?!. Unreal. It’s 30 years of Love Police next year. This seems like a good way to start the party early. See you at the shows, music lovers.”

Catch The Wallflowers performing in Melbourne, Thirroul and Sydney this December. Tickets on sale at lovepolice.com.au.
