Thornhill Headline New Melbourne Festival Surfs Up!

After the massive success of Life's A Beach festival at the Riviera Beach Club in February, with a lineup curated by Polaris, Destory All Lines have announced a second instalment for 2027: Surf's Up! Festival.

Taking place on Saturday 20 February at Riviera Beach Club, this Melbourne festival will be headlined and curated by heavy metal favourites Thornhill.

"We're bringing SURF'S UP! Festival to life. Personally curated by the four of us, we are stoked to be joined by some of the best names in Australian heavy music. Expect big riffs, good times and a whole lot of energy. Melbourne, we'll see you in February!" Thornhill said in a statement.

Joining Thornhill is an array of local talent alongside some international heavy-hitters including Stand Atlantic, Alpha Wolf, SACE6 (USA), Justice For The Damned, Varials (USA), Headwreck, Bloom and Blinder.

Thornhill have spent the past decade establishing themselves as a force in the Aussie heavy music scene, with the group's third LP, 2025's BODIES, debuting at #4 on the ARIA Albums Chart and winning an ARIA Award for Best Hard Rock/Heavy Metal Album.

Having toured with everyone from Sleep Token to Bring Me The Horizon, Architects, Avenged Sevenfold and Northlane, and played the biggest festivals, such as the UK's Download Festival, Welcome to Rockville, Hellfest, Graspop Metal Meeting, Good Things Festival and many more, it makes sense for Thornhill to curate their own lineup as part of next year's Surf's Up! Festival.
