The Tallest Man On Earth Announces New Album ‘Just Beyond Endless Mountain’

Sweden's The Tallest Man on Earth has announced the release of his seventh studio album, Just Beyond Endless Mountain, out Friday 9 October via Anti-Records.

Having returned to his native Dalarna in central Sweden several years ago, singer-songwriter Kristian Matsson soon became immersed in the music of his childhood, which helped shape the sound of his upcoming album.

"Somewhere along the way I'd developed this immature aversion to the whole cultural inheritance I grew up with," Matsson explains. "But now I live here again. I've read an incredible amount—not just about the music, but about how people actually lived in the old days. I think that's part of why this record feels more like me than anything I've made before. This album really comes from somewhere."

Matsson has also shared new single 'Deliver Me From Trying', which follows the previously released 'Colors'. A warm folk inflection with distorted vocals and violin and viola, the track has a message of longing.

"When I listened back to it, I thought, 'Yeah... okay. Good job, Kristian. You didn't really know what you were doing there'. 'Deliver Me from Trying' – just let me stop trying. That line just appeared, and it wasn't until later that I realised what it meant. It says a lot about where I was at."

The track is accompanied by a music video filmed in the Swedish countryside among the region’s beautiful flora and fauna.

Kristian Matsson has been performing under the stage name The Tallest Man on Earth for more than two decades.

The Swedish singer-songwriter has released seven albums across his career, including 2015's Dark Bird Is Home, which peaked at #11 on the Swedish Albums Chart and made it all the way to #1 on the US Billboard Americana/Folk Albums Chart.

Just Beyond Endless Mountain is the follow-up to 2023’s Henry St, with Matsson embarking on a North American tour in support of the album.
