Christmas comes early for local music lovers with the return of Good Music Month, South Australia's annual celebration of live, local music that runs across the state from Sunday 1 to Monday 30 November.

Presented by Music SA, this year's program includes over 150 music-related events taking place across SA, from the Adelaide CBD to every corner of the state, including the Far North, Fleurieu, West Coast and South East.

It's not just live music venues getting involved, with parks, laneways and specially curated spaces set up to celebrate every corner of South Australia's music community and the audiences that keep music alive.

"Live music is part of the fabric, culture and history of South Australia," says MusicSA CEO, Christine Schloithe. "Good Music Month is a wonderful celebration that reminds us why we love live music, why it's important for artists and venues to be supported by audiences, and it's an incredible showcase of local and touring acts of all styles and genres from tiny gigs to stadiums. Make a plan to go and see an artist you love or discover someone entirely new!"

Today's first program announcement showcases an incredibly diverse range of performances taking place across the state that includes homegrown talent, national stars and international touring acts, including heavy music legends Iron Maiden, who celebrate 50 years with Megadeth at Adelaide Entertainment Centre, UK indie outfit Two Door Cinema Club, performing their debut album in full and Australia's own boy band superstars 5 Seconds of Summer.

On the local front, The Tullamarines launch their new single 'Flight Path' at the Lion Arts Factory, the Mount Gambier Battle of the Bands returns to the Mount Gambier Showgrounds and Macclesfield's Three Brothers Arms plays host to The Fallen Saints alongside ARIA #1 country artist Matt Ward with Harvey Russell & The Widowmakers.
