Teenage Joans Share Country-Tinged Punk Rocker ‘Bandits’

Adelaide pop punk duo Teenage Joans have traded their Doc Martens for cowgirl boots with new single, ‘Bandits’.
A country-tinged punk rocker, ‘Bandits’ finds Teenage Joans exploring new sonics as the duo continues to evolve with every release.
“Bandits is the first glimpse into the next chapter of TJ’s,” the band shared. “The chorus came to us so easily, and we kept it from a writing session knowing we had to use it because it was too good to lose. Early 2025 we went on a beach trip to write some songs and this one was one we ended up finishing.
“We really wanted to blend a country vibe with our classic pop punk. The song is about feeling an intense connection to someone, so much so that you would do anything for them and rule out the worst because you love them so much, like a Bonnie and Clyde style romance.”
‘Bandits’ is also the first taste of new music from Teenage Joans in 2025 and arrives ahead of their performance as part of South Australia’s newest festival, A Day in the Gully. Teenage Joans then head overseas for a run of shows across the UK, including appearances at Liverpool’s Sound City and Brighton’s Great Escape in May.

Coming from nowhere in 2020 to win triple j’s Unearthed High competition, Teenage Joans have gone from strength to strength over the past six years.
The duo of Cahli and Tahlia dropped their debut EP Taste of Me in 2021, winning a record-breaking seven awards at that year’s South Australian Music Awards, before the release of their 2023 debut album, The Rot That Grows Inside My Chest.
Since then, they’ve toured Australia and the US extensively alongside the likes of Foo Fighters, Sum 41, Amy Shark, Pale Waves, Ball Park Music and The Chats, headlined sold-out tours and played all the biggest festivals, including Good Things, SXSW Austin, Splendour In The Grass, Groovin’ the Moo, Laneway Festival and Spin Off.
With more new music on the horizon, 2026 is shaping up as a belter of a year for Teenage Joans.
