Experimental metal trio SUMAC Announces Debut Australian and New Zealand Tour

Often referred to as a musical supergroup, post-metal trio SUMAC have finally announced their debut tour of Australia and New Zealand.
Formed by Aaron Turner(ISIS, Old Man Gloom), Nick Yacyshyn (Baptists) and Brian Cook (Russian Circles, Botch), SUMAC have amassed a cult fanbase through their experimental take on modern heavy music that has to be heard to be believed.
SUMAC are touring in support of 2024’s The Healer, an album Pitchfork called “dense and invigorating, highlighting the band’s dexterity, creativity, and clarity of purpose.”
Locking in dates across Australia and New Zealand, SUMAC will be joined by Melbourne’s Convulsing on all their Aussie dates.
The tour starts with two shows in New Zealand at Auckland’s Whammy Bar on Friday 30 January and Wellington’s Valhalla on Saturday 31 January. SUMAC then play shows at Brisbane’s Crowbar on Tuesday 3 February, Sydney’s Crowbar on Wednesday 4 February, Melbourne’s Stay Gold on Thursday 5 February and Adelaide’s Ed Castle on Friday 6 February.

Since forming in 2014, SUMAC have released five studio albums and gained a reputation for their technically thrilling live performances.
This year has seen the trio release the collaborative album The Film with musician Moor Mother, which was very well received by critics and fans alike.
Touching down in Australia for the first time in February, tickets for this one are sure to sell quickly, so be sure to secure yours as soon as possible when they go on sale next week.
