Kaurna/Adelaide-based punk meets pop rockers Stormy-Lou have delivered their first taste of new music in 2026 with the feel-good guitar rocker ‘Watching & Waiting’.
Produced by Lucinda Machin (The Tullamarines) and mastered by Jarred Nettle (Teenage Joans), ‘Watching & Waiting’ is anchored by a groovy guitar riff with relatable lyrics exploring the modern situationship and what happens when one person falls in love too quickly.
The band’s trademark dual vocals are once again at play, with Alex Flynn Taylor’s post-punk vocals complementing Mik Stoker’s soaring harmonies, with ‘Watching & Waiting’ another epci single from Stormy-Lou that deserves your attention.
“‘Watching & Waiting’ is a raunchy track about situationships and falling in love too quickly. We wanted the verses to be really fun and playful, painting the scene of a situationship that’s clearly toeing the line,” explains vocalist Taylor.
“We took the playful attitude into the production as well, with lots of fun parts and playful vocals. The chorus is meant to take you out a little bit and show the audience that there’s a sad and emo undertone behind it, and actually, this person is wanting more than the fun and drama.
“Instrumentally it was initially inspired by Arabella by Arctic Monkeys, with those punchy and fun chord changes. Then it evolved into more of a pop punk emo piece very much inspired by Hot Mulligan’s ‘you’ll be fine’.
“We hope people enjoy this new track, it feels like a great newfound commitment to pop-punk and we’re having so much fun moving more in this lane.”
