Ahead of their headline appearance at this year’s Nice Day To Go To The Club, Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever have shared new single ‘Sunburnt in London’, their first new release in four years.
The track is exactly what you want from a Rolling Blackouts track, with the band’s laconic indie rock stylings offering a six-and-a-half-minute summer slumber that’s all jangly guitars and the Coastal Fever’s unique three vocal deliever.
“As a band, we have always made songs about cities,” explains the band's Tom Russo. “I was thinking about sensory overload and relentless beauty, and the creeping feeling in the streets that the party’s winding up and the lights are about to come on.”
The track is accompanied by a live version of ‘Sunburned in London’ that was shot at Melbourne's Northcote Theatre with Stella Donnelly, Sophie Ozard and Julia Wallace on backing vocals and keys. Check out the original and live versions below.

Breaking through in 2017 with their second EP, The French Press, Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever quickly established themselves as one of Melbourne’s most ambitious indie acts.
Comprising brothers Tim (vocals, guitar) and Joe Russo (bass) alongside Fran Keaney (vocals, acousticguitar), Joe White (vocals, guitar, keyboards) and Marcel Tussie (drums), RBCF released three albums – Hope Downs (2018), Sideways To New Italy (2020) and Endless Rooms (2022) – before disappearing.
The release of ‘Sunburned in London’ is a welcome return and hopefully hints at a new album on the horizon.
