Fresh from a run of shows at this year’s Adelaide Fringe, deadset SA legend Peter Combe has announced a one-off performance at The Gov this April.
Newspaper Mama’s Big Night Out takes over the historic venue on Sunday 19 April for an evening of live music, nostalgia, and good vibes that includes some very special guests.
Combe will be backed by The Newspaper Mama Band, while support comes from emerging indie surf act Blue Pwr Man, who just so happen to feature two of Combe’s grandsons, Hugo on lead vocals and Oliver on drums. Check out their ripping new single, ‘Salt Lakes’, here.
The night promises plenty of laughs and sing-alongs, and gives those of us who grew up with Combe’s music a chance to relive our childhood while also catering to a new breed of fan who have discovered his music through their parents.
Expect to hear all the hits, including ‘Tadpole Blues’, ‘Spaghetti Bolognaise’, ‘Juicy Juicy Green Grass’, ‘Chopsticks’, ‘Baghdad’, ‘Rain’, ‘Jeffrey Hill’, ‘Jack & the Beanstalk’, ‘Wash Your Face in Orange Juice (Mr Clicketty Cane)’ and personal favourite, ‘Newspaper Mama’.

The three-time ARIA Award winner has released over 20 albums and performed shows at some of the country’s most iconic venues, including the Sydney Opera House and Adelaide’s own Festival Theatre.
Combe scored a second wind in the early 00s when he began performing shows for the 30 and 40-year-olds who grew up with his music, selling out pubs and clubs across the land.
