Modest Mouse Share Latest Single ‘Third Side of the Moon’

The track is taken from the band’s upcoming eighth studio album, An Eraser and a Maze.
The album rollout for Modest Mouse’s eighth studio album continues with the release of new single, ‘Third Side of the Moon’.
Following ‘Picking Dragon’s Pockets’ and ‘Look How Far…’, the latest taste of An Eraser and a Maze sounds like Tom Waits with clarity. The track has been part of their live sets for some time now, so to see it pop up on their new album is great news for fans.
An Eraser and a Maze drops Friday 5 June via Glacial Pace Recordings/Virgin Music Group and was produced by Modest Mouse vocalist Isaac Brock alongside Jackknife Lee (U2, The Killers), Suzy Shinn (Weezer, Panic at the Disco) and Justin Raisin (Charli xcx, Kim Gordon, Lil Yachty).
Speaking on the making of An Eraser and a Maze, Brock says, “For this one, I turned off my filter and just let it all happen. Even though every goddamn musician says that when they put out a record. I mean, go ahead and listen to the three-minute mark of any interview between a musician and Terry Gross…”
“Thoughts, emotions, feelings, all that stuff … you're like the soup, and it’s not always easy to pick out the ingredients. I don't dwell on things much. I don't grieve much. I'm not sure I'm a person. I feel like I should have more feelings than I do. But then, you know, I'll sing stuff. And I'm like, Oh, there it is. Oh — it's in there.”

For more than 30 years, Modest Mouse have been favourites of alt-rock lovers, with the band releasing the critically acclaimed albums The Lonesome Crowded West (1997) and The Moon & Antarctica (2000), before breaking out into the mainstream in 2004 with Good News for People Who Love Bad News.
The album produced the hit singles ‘Float On’, ‘Ocean Breathes Salty’ and ‘The World At Large’ and was followed by Modest Mouse’s only #1 Billboard Album, 2007’s We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank, which is notable for featuring The Smiths’ guitarist Johnny Marr.
Although it’s been five years since their last album, Modest Mouse are regulars on the festival circuit and have toured with the likes of Weezer, Pixies and The Flaming Lips in recent years, with their new record highly anticipated.
