Miss Kaninna Drops New Single ‘MOB TIES’
‘MOB TIES’ follows Miss Kaninna’s R&B inspired 2025 single ‘BACKSEAT’.

Never one to mince words, proud Yorta Yorta, Dja Dja Wurrung, Kalkadoon and Yirendali sovereign woman and Naarm/Melbourne-via-lutruwita/Tasmania artist Miss Kaninna returns with her hardest single yet.
‘MOB TIES’ arrives ahead of her support slot for De La Soul’s upcoming Australian tour and has been described as an unrelenting “homage to hip hop and my people in the struggle.”
Miss Kaninna weaves witty yet truthful bars about race, idenity and belonging over the booming beat, with ‘MOB TIES’ co-produced by Miss Kaninna, 18YOMAN (Lil Nas X, Kid Cudi, Sampa The Great, Rico Nasty) and Ethan Parodi and mixed/engineered by UNO Stereo (Busta Rhymes, Kaiit, Khalid, Bliss N Eso, Jada Weazel).
"I wanted to show the strength of mob and solidarity between all Black people. I want Blackfullas and immigrants to feel the sense of belonging they deserve and to give a very clear message to racist white supremacist groups, you and your rhetoric are not welcome here,” said Miss Kaninna.
“I’m Black on both my parents’ sides and growing up we made connections over the whole of the country with different mobs. I know who I am and know I come from a very proud staunch family line on both my fathers and mothers sides. My identity is not based on a trend or a ‘feeling’, my identity is a reflection of my strong bloodline. ‘MOB TIES’ also touches on my perspective of white supremacy in this country.
“Not only am I Aboriginal but I also have Mauritian, Scottish heritage on my mothers' side and Chinese on my fathers', which reflects the immigration of the 1800s. It’s an observation of British colonialism, claiming rights over this land when sovereignty was never ceded. If you’re not Aboriginal, Torres Strait islander or Micronesian you are an immigrant. It always was Black land and it’s always going to be Black land.”

A 6-time ARIA Award nominee and multi-award-winner, Miss Kaninna continues to draw praise from critics and fans alike with her authentic approach to music that’s seen her garner over 3 million streams across her catalogue.
Amyl & the Sniffers' Amy Taylor called her “an inspiration” and KNEECAP declared Miss Kaninna “the best support act we've ever had”, with ‘MOB TIES’ solidifying her rising status on a global level.
