Eora/Sydney-based indie outfit The Sooks have gone bang and dropped their smashing new EP, Wasting All My Time.
The follow-up to their 2024 EP Oyster Boy, The Sooks’ latest effort is six tracks of introspective guitar rock produced by Jack Nigro (The Terrys, Pacific Avenue, Mid Drift).
Featuring singles ‘Take It Slow’, ‘Kickstarter’ and ‘Sober (For The Second Time)’, the EP is a coheisve mix of downbeat rockerts and anthmic party starters, with vocalist and songwriter Corey Fitzsimons having this to say about the EP, “It’s a real coming of age project - and delves into relationships, being young, dumb and broke, and trying to make it all work out in spite of that. It’s a homage to the experiences we’ve shared and touches on the highs and lows we’ve had together as a band and as individuals.
“As a whole, it emphasises not letting life dim your shine and doing what you feel you're meant to do, despite the roadblocks life puts in your way. Make the most of the moments you find yourselves in, and don't let people, thoughts or states of mind ‘waste your time’ because there's really no time like the present.”
Those lucky enough to live on the East Coast can catch The Sooks performing tracks from Wasting All My Time over the next couple of months. The Sooks support The Terrys at Drifters Wharf in Darkinjung/Central Coast on Sunday 22 February before playing an album launch show at Waywards in Eora/Sydney on Saturday 14 March.
Next up, the lads support CURRENTS at Towradgi Beach Hotel in Dharawal/Wollongong on Friday 17 April before their final date with Playunch at Uts Underground in Eora/Sydney on Saturday 2 May.
Tickets for all shows are on sale now at thesooks.com.au.

It’s been some 18 months for The Sooks, who have gone from jamming in their Western Sydney garage to performing on festival stages across the country.
Talking about their beginnings, Fitzisoms says, “As corny as it might sound, I fell in love with music after seeing One Direction when I was 8 or 9,” explains frontman Fitzsimons. “After meeting Jeremy (bassist) in school, we got really into Australian indie music, leading us to buy guitars and teach ourselves to play. Then, after roping in my brother Keenan (guitarist), primary school mate Jeremy (guitarist) and local legend Flynn (drums), it was game on.”
Now one of the bands to watch in 2026, The Sooks are ready to take on the world with the release of Wasting All My Time.
Wasting All My Time by The Sooks is out now. Listen here. Catch them live across the East Coast at the dates below.
