‘Say It’s Over’ is the first taste of music from newly formed Adelaide prog rockers Control the Sun.
Made up of veterans of the Adelaide heavy scene with members from Japam and Colibrium (Chris Gard, Jack Thomson, Christian Tassone, Matt Mitris and Gerard Kotlowy), Control the Sun’s debut single is a blend of intricate riffs, pumelling percussion and catchy hooks.
The track tackles the theme of lost youth and the struggle that comes with abandoning bad habits, with the band believing the track will resonate with anyone who has “faced the bittersweet passage of time.”
There’s a bit of Karnivool (and some Soundgarden) to this one, with ‘Say It’s Over’ channelling the driving melodies of their former bands while offering something fresh. The breakdown also gets two thumbs up.
Speaking on the music video for the song, the band said, “The video introduces who we are; a group of friends making music together. We self-produce, constantly experiment and collaborate late into the night, often with a lot of healthy debate but always keeping it fun. This video captures that spirit as we start this journey with our fans.”
