Emerging Sydney-based avant-garde pop artist Liliana de la Rosa has followed her debut single ‘Haunted by Roses’ with the spellbinding ‘High Like Heaven’.
A mesmerising sonic creation featuring her real-life partner and collaborator Corrj, the track was written last year as a personal love letter to Corrj, who was away in Perth at the time. Falling in love with the demo, Corrj wrote and recorded a verse for the song, sending it to de la Rosa within 20 minutes of first hearing the song.
“‘High Like Heaven’ is a sexy alt-pop anthem made for late-night drives and feeling like the main character in a romantic fantasy,” explains de la Rosa. “The track explores the euphoric high of being obsessively in love, thrill seeking, and ambition. With velvety vocals and romantic imagery used, ‘High Like Heaven’ captures devotion and desire at full intensity.
The single is accompanied by a music video de la Rosa says was influenced by Baz Luhrmann’s Moulin Rouge and Romeo and Juliet. “Another addition to the ethereal world I'm building,” says de la Rosa. “Perfect song for fans of Lana del Rey and Suki Waterhouse.”
‘High Like Heaven’ is a seductive ballad about lust, love and thrill seeking that marks de la Rosa as one to watch.
