King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard Drop New Song 'Kill for the Steel’

The rollout for King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard's next album continues with the release of pulsating track 'Kill for the Steel'.

Taken from the band's 28th long player, Alien Metal, dropping later this year, 'Kill for the Steel' continues the band's obsession with techno, as seen on the previous singles 'Level 5' and 'Alien Metal'.

"We don’t wish death upon you / We don’t wish any bad luck or any ill will / But we will kill for the steel," sings the auto-tuned voice over a dark, pummeling beat that hits just right.

In press statements, King Gizzard revealed Alien Metal was written and recorded using a modular synthesiser set-up they nicknamed Nathan, with the band's Stu Mackenzie saying the album "sounds so crunchy, but also beautiful."

"Alien Metal goes really hard, but it also goes to really interesting places," adds Joey Walker. "And it feels unique – it feels like us, still."

Alien Metal is King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard's first album of 2026 and follows on from last year's Phantom Island, an orchestral-inspired companion piece to 2024's Flight b741.

This weekend sees the band play their sold-out Field of Vision II festival in Buena Vista, Colorado, before King Gizzard performs a three-night run at New York’s Forest Hills Stadium, followed by a special "Rave Show" in Brooklyn.

King Gizzard then return home in October for a run of headline shows in support of Alien Metal.
