British rockers Fisher-Z are finally making their way to Australia this year as part of their 50th anniversary celebrations.
Despite this being the band’s first ever Australian tour, the group have enjoyed success down under, with their breakthrough 1980 global hit ‘So Long’ peaking at #15 on the Kent Music Report (pre-ARIA era) and their 1987 single ‘The Perfect Day’ reaching #12 on the ARIA Charts.
Speaking about the band reaching 50, founder John Watts said, “I can’t believe it’s already been 50 years. It’s been a hell of a journey, full of ups and downs, but I can’t wait to celebrate with everyone, and I’m up for it! Here’s to many more years of new music, shows and art.”
Fisher-Z’s debut Australian tour begins in Perth at the Rosemount Hotel on Wednesday 25 November. Then it’s off to Fremantle’s Freo.Social on Thursday 26 November, Adelaide’s The Gov on Friday 27 November and Melbourne’s Max Watts on Saturday 28 November.
The final four shows in December take place at Sydney’s Factory Theatre on Thursday 3 December, Penrith’s Evan Theatre on Friday 4 December, Tweed Heads Twin Towns Services Club on Saturday 5 December and Brisbane’s The Triffid on Sunday 6 December.

Founded by vocalist and guitarist John Watts and synth player Steve Skolnik in 1976, Fischer-Z made a name for themselves across the UK with their political songwriting and energetic live shows.
Their 1979 debut album Word Salad featured their biggest global chart hit, ‘So Long’, and propelled Fischer-Z into the mainstream.
The band’s five-decade career has resulted in more than 23 albums, selling more than 2 million records and playing over 3,000 concerts across Europe, North America and beyond.
To mark their 50th anniversary, Fischer-Z are releasing a celebratory album titled 50/50, which will feature five new songs and five re-imagined versions of Watt’s favourite Fischer-Z songs.
