After sharing a slew of awesome singles, Yugambeh/Gold Coast-based Bootleg Rascal have revealed their hotly anticipated self-titled fourth album, Bootleg Rascal (listen here)
The album is supported by the lead single ‘Reasons’, one of the highlights of the 11 tracks that make up Bootleg Rascal. Produced by longtime collaborator Caleb Tasker (The Terrys, Rum Jungle) and mixed by Ian Pritchett (Angus & Julia Stone, Boo Seeka), the record explores topics such as fatherhood, relationships and general life.
“This album feels like it's been 12 years in the making. All the gigs we've played all around the world, all the songs we've written, all the adventures we've shared, are all building blocks of this latest record,” says guitarist Jimmy Young.
“It's the first proper full-length album of new songs we've released since Anonimo back in 2018. I think this record is a great representation of the band as a whole. I think if you've ever had fun at a live show or enjoyed listening to our music over the years, you'll love this record. That's also why we felt it was fitting to make this one self-titled. You never know when your last record will happen, but if this is it, I can die a happy man.”
Bootleg Rascal are currently touring the nation, performing a mix of free shows and ticketed events. The duo have dates lined up across New Zealand, New South Wales and Victoria still to come. Tickets on sale via bootlegrascal.com.

Bootleg Rascal’s current tour follows their hugely successful BOOTY BLOCK PARTY tour and a run of shows across the UK and Europe. This year has also seen them perform at festivals Salty Hops, Live At The Pines, Winter Wine, Oktoberfest and Spaced Out, while they also supported UK reggae legends Steel Pulse.
Since coming together in 2012, Bootleg Rascal have established themselves as one of the country’s grooviest bands, amassing millions of streams, touring the globe and receiving support from Spotify, Apple Music, triple j, NME, Rolling Stone and more.
The release of their new album finds Carlos Lara and Jimmy Young entering a phase of Bootleg Rascal, with more exciting plans in the works from the group.
