Bonobo Unites With Joy Crookes On New Single 'Always On Your Side'

This is the fourth track taken from Bonobo's forthcoming record, 'Distance In Static'.

Bonobo (aka Simon Green) has teamed up with Joy Crookes for new single 'Always on Your Side', the fourth track taken from his upcoming album Distance in Static, out Friday 11 September via Ninja Tune.

The collaboration between the two UK artists will conjure feelings of nostalgia for longtime Bonobo fans, with the track very reminiscent of the DJ and producer's early work.

'Always on Your Side' follows the previously released tracks 'Me and You', 'Fire on the Water' and 'Drift', with Bonobo's upcoming Distance in Static featuring collaborations with the likes of Nilüfer Yanya, Ichiko Aoba, Nicole Miglis (Hundred Waters) and Aanya Martin.

Distance in Static was recorded across the globe in LA, Tokyo, London and beyond – including Neil Young’s legendary Broken Arrow Ranch in California – and features singing in English, Urdu and Japanese, along with historic Iranian samples and guzheng recordings that sit alongside Green's own meticulously processed instrumentation.

When it comes to the visual side of things, Green has continued the theme of collaboration, teaming with celebrated designer Trevor Jackson to create imagery that draws on microscopic photography by renowned photomicrographer John I. Koivula,

This year marks 25 years since the release of Green's debut album Animal Magic, with Distance In Static both a celebration of his past and an embrace of the future.

Across his career, Green has released two Top-10 Albums (2017’s Migration and 2022’s Fragments, which both landed at #5 on the UK chart), scored numerous Gold and Silver certified singles and performed all over the globe.

He recently played a London rooftop DJ session for Mixmag’s long-running LAB series, playing alongside a hand-picked lineup that included Femi Koleoso (Ezra Collective) and Art School Girlfriend. His 90-minute set is bloody epic and has been watched over 200k times since launching just a week ago.
