Citizen Share New Single 'Good Fortune' Ahead of Australian Tour

Gearing up for the release of their new album Halcyon Blues, out this Friday 7 August via Run For Cover Records/Civilians, Ohio rock outfit Citizen have shared the pummelling single 'Good Fortune'.

The opening track from Halcyon Blues follows the previously released tracks 'I Can See You From Here', 'Halcyon Blues' and 'Highs and Lows', giving fans a final tease of what to expect from the band's sixth studio album.

Citizen are supporting their new album with an Australian tour early next year, bringing post-hardcore outfit Drug Church along for the ride.

The band’s Halcyon Blues Australian tour begins in Brisbane at The Tivoli on Friday 26 February and continues with shows at Sydney’s Liberty Hall on Saturday 27 February, Melbourne’s The Forum on Sunday 28 February and Adelaide’s The Gov on Wednesday 3 March, with the last show at Perth’s Magnet House on Thursday 4 March.

Halcyon Blues arrives almost two decades into Citizen's career, with the album recorded by vocalist Mat Kerekes and mixed by Tom Lorde-Alge (U2, Weezer, Blink-182).

"A lot of bands try to do anything they can to be the hottest thing of the moment and we've just never operated like that," says guitarist Nick Hamm. "We don't think in moments, or months, or record cycles. Some bands end up getting sick of whatever walls they exist in, but I see Citizen as this long-term creative project where there's always somewhere new to go, and that’s kept me exhilarated through all these years. And we’ve trusted that people who like our band will want to come along. A lot of people grew with us and we’re really thankful for that."

Before touching down in Australia, Citizen are taking Halcyon Blues across the USA with support from Anxious, Hotline TNT, Rocket and Cryogeyser, followed by the UK and EU with Modern Color, before finally touching down in Oz.
